AIRoV – Austrian Symposium on AI, Robotics and Vision 13.-15.04.2026

Leoben AIRoV 2026 AI, Robotics & Vision is the joint Symposium of the Austrian Society for Artificial Intelligence (ASAI), the Austrian Society of Measurement, Automation and Robot Technologies (GMAR) and the Austrian Association for Pattern Recognition (OAGM). Following a long tradition of individual and joint workshops, this is the third joint Symposium of our closely-related associations.

Our objective is to bring together our overlapping communities, foster exchange, develop synergies, develop common visions and ambitions, enhance the visibilty of our activities, and provide a forum for the next generation of researchers.

The program will be built around two half-day sessions of parallel workshops. Workshops will focus on topics of interest to at least two of the participating communities, and can run over one or both sessions.

In addition, there will be plenary sessions featuring keynote presentations, contributed talks, and a poster session.

Berk Calli

Berk Calli

Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI), USA

Associate Professor at WPI leading the Manipulation and Environmental Robotics (MER) Lab. His research spans robotic grasping, soft robot control, and active vision to address environmental challenges. Lead organizer of the Climate Robotics Summit and ICRA manipulation competitions, he was previously a postdoc at Yale GRAB Lab and earned his PhD from TU Delft.
Sebastian Otte

Sebastian Otte

Institute for Robotics and Cognitive Systems, University of Lübeck, Germany

Professor at the Institute for Robotics and Cognitive Systems at the University of Lübeck in Germany and the head of the Research Group for Adaptive Artificial Intelligence. Sebastian and his team focus on developing flexible and adaptive AI systems that can continuously learn and dynamically adapt to changing environments. One of their main goals is the creation of efficient and sustainable AI that can operate effectively despite resource constraints such as limited energy supply, memory, and computational power.
Sebastian Böck

Sebastian Böck

NXAI, Linz, Austria

Lead Researcher at NXAI, specializing in Deep Learning, Sequence Modeling, and Time Series Forecasting. He received his PhD in Computer Science from JKU in Linz and his diploma degree in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology from the Technical University in Munich. Today, his research at NXAI centers on overcoming the fundamental scaling and inference bottlenecks of modern AI through the extended Long Short-Term Memory (xLSTM) paradigm and its application across diverse modalities.

Spiros is Professor of Computational Medicine at IT:U and Professor of Biomedical Informatics at University College London in the UK. He is a Visiting Professor at the University of Athens Medical School where he teaches health data science for electronic health records research and Associate Director and the British Heart Foundation Data Science Centre where he leads the Defining Disease theme. A computer scientist by background, his research focuses on developing computational methods for analyzing complex biomedical datasets in order to improve our understanding of disease mechanisms.
